科学合理的教学设计是保障教学质量和提高教学效率的前提,撰写教学设计和试讲也是近年来教招考试中出现频率较高的考查形式。阅读课作为英语教学中比较重要的课型之一,需要大家的重视与不断练习。本文以牛津译林版必修四Unit 3 Tomorrow’s World阅读课为例进行教学设计,该教学设计以学生的现实生活为出发点和归宿点,旨在发挥学生的实际语言运用能力。

Knowledge aims:
1. Students can learn the form and structure of the business presentation.
2. Students can grasp some knowledge about the technology of virtual reality(VR).
Ability aims:
1. Students can use skimming skills to get the main idea of each part and use the scanning skills to get specific information.
2. Students can express their feelings and opinions about the application of virtual reality.
Emotional aims:
1. Students will increase their confidence in group cooperation and discussion with others.
2. Students will arouse their interest of the benefits of new technologies.
Teaching key points and difficult points:
Key points:
Students can master the feature and structure of the business presentation and understand the benefits of the new technologies.
Students can apply reading strategies: making prediction, skimming and scanning.
Difficult Points:
Students can express their opinions on the application of VR in various of occasions.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in
Greet students and ask students to share what they have heard about new technologies, and which one of the new technologies they are interested in most; in this way the teacher will lead the topic of “virtual reality(VR)”.
(Justification: the teacher can lead the topic of “virtual reality” very naturally and it can also arouse students’ interest.)
Step 2 Pre-reading
Show students a short video about the introduction of virtual reality, and ask them what they have learned about it, and then lead the topic about the new passage.
(Justification: students can aware the function and meaning of virtual reality, and get the main idea about the passage.)
Step 3 While-reading
1. Fast reading
Read the passage quickly and conclude the main idea about the passage, and finish the following chart:

(Justification: students’ skimming skills and scanning skills can be trained. It’s an individual work, so the autonomous learning method can be demonstrated too.)
2. Careful reading
1)Read the passage carefully, and answer the following questions.
(1) How many of the user’s senses does this product connect with?
(2) What are the advantages of using RealCine for urban planning?
(3) Why do some people think that users will be disappointed by RealCine?
(4) What might people use RealCine for?
2)Discuss with your desk-mates about the meanings of the new words from the passage:
①passive
③disabled
④secure
⑤injure
(Justification: these questions can help students to understand this passage much better. This activity can also develop students’ ability to express the detailed information.)
Step 4 Post-reading
Group discussion: How could virtual reality be used in schools? What else fields do you think virtual reality can be used in?
(Justification: Students can share their ideas with their group members, and the discussion can arouse their enthusiasm and improve their speaking ability.)
Step 5 Summary and homework
Summary: Invite one student to summarize what they have learned today.
Homework: Ask students to finish the exercise of part E in the textbook; write a short passage about one of their favourite new technologies.
